Energy Efficiency
We understand the significance that meeting the new carbon dioxide emission targets has upon building design. Our technical team is fully up to date with the latest developments in measuring and assessing the impact that building systems have on CO2 emissions. We are registered with NHER as ‘competent persons’ in the context of Part L1A of the Building Regulations (England and Wales), are therefore qualified to provide SAP2005 calculations, Compliance Certificates and Energy Performance Certificates.

FrameSolve Ltd was established in March 2006 as a sister company to TimberSolve Ltd, who are a leading timber design and product development consultancy (www.timbersolve.co.uk). Both companies are majority owned by BSW plc, who are the largest sawmiller in the UK with a turnover in excess of £100M pa (www.bsw.co.uk)

Our staff comprise a Chartered Structural Engineer, an Architect, registered SAP assessors, and registered EcoHomes/Code for Sustainable Homes Assessors, whom between them possess 1 Doctoral Degree, 3 Masters Degrees, and 4 Batchelors Degrees, and have a combined experience of over 100 years in the timber construction sector.
Our considerable construction industry experience has enabled us to establish well developed networks with other specialist acoustic, fire and energy consultancy businesses, together with long-standing technical contacts with Building Standards agencies, warranty providers and certification bodies in the UK. All of the technical consultancy services we offer are fully indemnified via our comprehensive £5M Professional Indemnity insurance cover.

Dr Luke Whale BSc(Hons), PhD, FIWSc
Managing Director
Luke began his career in research and development at TRADA, later joining Brighton University and then moving into industry in 1989 as Technical Director of Gang-Nail Systems. In 1998 he founded TimberSolve Ltd, a leading timber design and product development consultancy, and in 2006 he established its sister company FrameSolve Ltd.
Geoff Gudge BSc(Hons), MSc, CEng, MIStructE
Technical Director
Prior to joining FrameSolve Geoff spent 15 years working as a structural engineer in the Timber Engineering industry, prior to which he worked for 6 years as a product assessor at the British Board of Agrement. More recently Geoff has gained expertise in SAP, EcoHomes and Code for Sustainable Homes assessment of new buildings.
Andy Dunning BSc(Hons), MSc, DIC, AIWSc
Technical Manager
Andy has worked in the timber industry for 22 years with experience in estimation, production, design and software specification. In 1988 he gained a Masters Degree in Timber Technology, and more recently has become registered as a SAP, EcoHomes and Code for Sustainable Homes assessor.

Technical Consultant
Geoff has worked extensively in the field of timber frame buildings in the UK and other countries. He is widely recognised as one of the leading experts in timber building design in the UK with extensive experience in research and development and architectural and construction consultancy.
